Three full-size papers (3600 x 3600 pixels) with patterns for Saint Patrick's Day. I added a texture to the papers. Three full-size templates (3600 x 3600 pixels) in PSD format. The clover patterned paper and the spades with diamonds paper have been saved in layers. The gingham print paper is one layer. I have also included the seamless tiles (200 x 200 pixels) so you can resize the patterns to suit your needs. Our new baby kitten!

The photo shown above is our new baby kitten :) My husband picked me up for lunch today and we were traveling on a state route when I spotted a baby kitten on the side of the road. She was walking in the gravel next to the road in the middle of a snow storm! Gary stopped the van and the car behind us stopped as well. The young man in the car behind us jumped out and scooped her up before she ran off. He asked me if I could keep her, take care of her, and love her. He wanted to but he couldn't keep her. I told him that I would take her to our vet's office and have her checked. The poor little thing was so cold, she was shaking and crying :( Her eyes were matted shut with mucus and mud. Fortunately for us and her, our vet was about 50 yards down the road so we pulled in. After a thorough exam which she didn't really care for, she has a bad cold :( but otherwise she is healthy. The vet cleaned her up and clipped her claws. She is between 7 and 8 weeks old, weighs 1 pound 10 ounces, and she has slept so sound all afternoon. Until she recovers from the cold, we have to keep her separated from our other cats. Right now, she is with our daughter in her bedroom. We haven't named the kitten yet because we want to see her personality. So far, she is fiesty and talkative.

This may sound strange to some people, but I believe that our cat Trouble who passed away a week ago after suffering a cat stroke, sent this sweet baby kitten to us. I will always miss Trouble but this baby makes me smile. It feels right that she should join our family. God works in mysterious ways.

So far, 2012 hasn't been a great year for me :( My cat, Trouble, passed away on January 11, 2012 after suffering a major cat stroke which I found out is quite rare. I brought Trouble home on April 30, 2001 when he was only three weeks old after his mother was run over by a semi-truck. Trouble got his name and he lived up to it because we had to feed him with a syringe for the first three to four weeks every two to four hours. I told him that he was a bunch of trouble and we all decided that was his name. Trouble was our scaredy kitty and he liked to be alone, away from others for the most part, but he did enjoy spending time with all of us when it was one-on-one time. I have wonderful memories of our time together and it would take volumes to describe those precious moments for you. Right now though, I'm grieving my loss and feeling very sad. I began working on this kit right before Trouble passed away and finished it this morning. I hope you enjoy it and find my offerings useful.

All files in the kit are in .png format and in separate files. The kit contains the following:

Free Winter Papers - Third Edition

If you would like to create your own snowflakes, I have used two free fonts to create the snowflakes that appear in my winter theme. One is faux snow and the second is lp_snowflake. Both fonts are freeware and can be downloaded at http://www.fontspace.com/category/snowflakes. You will find other snowflake fonts when you visit this link.

The link for the supplies does not work. Follow the link to the original Dutch tutorial to snag the supplies. The directions were difficult to follow. This tutorial is definitely for someone who has a good working knowledge of how Paint Shop Pro operates. The "blank" area on the left of the tutorial is where you can add your name. I left it blank so you can snag the tag if you want it. The tag is shown in its original size so just right click and save as to your computer if you want the tag. Enjoy!

The cute penguin couple with the ornament balloon is made from a paid-to-use script from Meetje Designs at the Country Corner Creations store. I could not resist buying the script and got it for $1.00 at their store. To be honest, this is the first script that I have purchased. I am confused as to what "commercial use" means in Meetje's TOU so I am not offering a .png file for visitors to download. A lot of work went into this script and I certainly do not want to take away any opportunity for the designer to make a sale. Grandpa got run over by a deer

I visited with my parents at their home last night. As we were sitting around, chatting, catching up with one another, my dad asked me if I knew the Christmas song 'Grandma got run over by a reindeer' to which I nodded that I did. He followed that up with 'Grandpa got run over by a deer, John Deere.' I looked at his grin and knew there was a story to hear. Chuckling, I asked what happened and he explained (let me point out that the machine was not running -- he was pushing it after having taken out the battery) that he was storing his lawn mower for the winter when he tripped and the thing rolled back over him. He proudly exclaimed at this point "Grandpa was run over by a deer, a John Deere!" We all laughed and thank goodness he wasn't seriously injured. He got a few scrapes and bruises but he got a great joke out of it that he can tell family and friends each Christmas season :)

This laugh helped after a horrendous week that began with a deer running into my van last Saturday. That deer took out my van and the rest of the week was running around dealing with insurance people, choosing a new van, and the hazzle of having to get new transportation. Does anyone know if the 'deer whistles' actually work? Friends suggested that I attach the deer whistles to the grill on my new van and, although I had heard about deer whistles, I also thought they didn't work. Any ideas that anyone can share with me would be greatly appreciated.

I have been redesigning my personal website since I have extra time. One thing that I wanted to explore was making a video from the tags that I have recently created and upload it to YouTube. Angel Animation

Tutorial Address

This tutorial caught my eye because of the animation used. The only change that I made was done in Animation Shop to add "Image Transition" so the blocks faded into the image. One problem I did encounter was with the penta.com plug-in filters. The VTR2 did not want to work so I used Jeans instead of VTR2 for block 3. The tutorial allows versatility so it didn't effect the outcome significantly. I plan to try this tutorial again and use some additional effects, colors, and tube. This would not be a challenge for anyone who has intermediate or advanced skills in Paint Shop Pro.

Life Full Speed

Life is full of daily challenges. Lately, I have taken the philosophy to heart that 'happiness is not a destination, its a journey.' Someone once told me that women think that changing one's self meant to tackle all of our bad habits at the same time while men take it one change at a time. Women feel everything has failed if one goal of many is not met while men think what happened didn't work so time to make adjustments to their plan and continuing changing it until the goal is met. While I understand the concepts and agree with them for the most part, changes are hard no matter how you go about it.

So, lately (within the last few months), my life has changed in some major ways. My husband was laid off from his job of several years in April. The company he worked for was bought out and then employees were phased out when the new company came through the door. Our two kids were in college. Our daughter graduated in June. Our son has two more years before he finishes college. When my daughter started college, I got a part-time job to cover the extra expenses. This part-time job was in addition to my full-time job. Obviously, I was doing very little other than working. Two weeks ago, I quit my part-time job because, after four years, the straw broke the camel's back. Over the course of working my part-time job, I got an education about the service industry.

Reflecting on my personal experience, I realize that I was fortunate whereas co-workers did not share in my fortune. They are facing a lifetime of hard work for minimum wages, not being able to afford the basics, and the constant dread of having to go to work at a 'nothing' job just to exist. They have to choose between paying rent and buying food if their car breaks down if they can afford a car. Most rely on others to help them fill their needs. They live with family so the combined wages can go further. What escapes my logic is how many, more than not, spent whatever money they can scrape together to buy alcohol and drugs. It is a culture that I don't understand. These co-workers would complain of not having enough money and, when I asked why are you buying dope, they would answer that I don't know what they are going through. The answer to all of their problems was to escape them, ignore and/or hide problems was the only way they could get through the day(s).

When I vented to friends about what I observed, they were disturbed by the events that I described. Looking back, they would tell me that drug abuse is generational, environmental, poverty, and I am sure that is a part of it. However, as a society, I can tell you that the service industry and how it operates contributes to the acceptance of drug abuse. Not only is it accepted, it is discussed openly much like a badge of honor of sorts. In the presence of the public in general, it wasn't talked about but I'm sure many customers knew that a co-worker was under the influence of substances. When I asked managers why drug testing wasn't part of the company policy, I was assured that it wasn't needed. In private, my supervisors told me that drug testing wasn't done because there would be no employees to fill the jobs. The complaints that I would bring to the attention of managers (all of who were younger than myself) fell on deaf ears. After a while, I was seen as a 'whiner' and not doing my part as a team member. My complaints were ignored or problems/conditions were hidden away. It is circular thinking in a way. Most co-workers would quit several times and managers hired them back every few months. Usually the workers would walk out because their substance abuse had become so severe that everything would anger them, leading to loud arguments in vulgar, obscene language, and only end with the employee walking out. I walked out when a manager told me 'to get real' and 'get over it.' I didn't get over it. I got out.

This four year stint in the food service industry proved to me that I want a better life for my children. While our circumstances are not the best right now, we're not in bad shape. This is temporary. Since I quit my part-time job, I appreciate 'time' and truly enjoy the time that I now have. Its a beautiful gift. Time that I can use for me, to make changes for the betterment of self, to spend with my family, and to help others. From this point forward, its life full speed.
